If you were the Principal, what would you want to see?
If you were the Parent, what would you want to see?
If you were the Student, what would you want to see?
At my school, girls had to wear tanktops with straps that were at least 1 finger thick. SHorts had to go halfway down the thigh.
Guys weren't allowed sleeveless shirts in general outside of gym. I was sent to the office for breaking this one. Shorts had to go past the knee when standing and still reach the knee when sitting.
The problem wasn't dress codes being more strict for girls. They weren't and generally aren't. It has more to do with women having tons of options and competing for sexiest outfit they can get away with. But it gets outright gross when the 70-year-old principal is complaining about seeing the butt cheeks of 15 year old girls because it is "too sexy". That narrative is absolutely out of line, and it should be more about presenting professionalism.
As for boys being "distracted", that shouldn't be "blamed" on girls as it often is. I was regularly distracted by cute girls in long jeans and a sweater. It's not HER job to compensate for MY distraction. I have ADHD. Everything distracted me. Should electronics be banned because I would draw schematics instead of doing my homework?
However once it gets to a certain point, like option D, it will be distracting to anyone. Gay men. Straight girls. Etc. It would be the equivalent of a hanging butt crack or skin-tight pants that show the cock and balls.
My advice would be simply to hold the exact same standard for boys and girls, and don't punish one to accommodate the other. Hold the narratives about teenage sexuality because they are largely irrelevant and unavoidable. But also realize girls will be most of the one breaking the dress codes no matter what you do. Why? They have nearly all of the clothing options. Guys have different varieties of the same jeans and short-sleeved shirt.
I think it would really funny if there were no restrictions whatsoever, and the parents and teachers just sat back and watched what happened. OR, let the kids govern their own dress code, and let's see what happens.
Well said... freedom of choice and individuality - what a novel idea :)
I doubt the planet would stop turning. LOL
I think school uniforms are good for many reasons but girls should have a choice between trousers or skirts.
As for the skirt length I Remember at school we had a strict ‘must be bellow the knee rule’ or teachers would measure it but the thing is most girls had it mid thigh and got away with it and only I got told off for just above the knee as I’m tall with long legs I’m pretty sure and I don’t see how half an inch makes a big difference…
As for the uniform I think ‘skirts around knee length but bellow mid thigh’ is a good rule and shirts that don’t show the bra is a good rule. But nothing too strict like having to wear blazers in the summer heatwave like they did at ours. Either way you get the point
I voted "Short skirts or dresses with sleeveless tops and low necklines would be OK, just nothing too crazy"
But I think the picture for that one is definitely too crazy. Its a *neck*line; it should be closer to the neck than the waist.
Same as high-waisted pants should still be closer to the waist than the neck. Otherwise they're not pants; they're tubetop jumpsuits.

Both boys and girls should mainly be focused on the work at school, and the same could be said for the men and women who have jobs. I definitely think either a uniform could easily keep everyone focused, while on their no work/school days than everyone is free to wear whatever they see fit. My answer is I think there should be an authorized school uniform for both genders so no don't wear nothing distasteful or highly inappropriate.
On A did you mean without distracting the guys cause it didn't make sense to me to say without the guys distracting the girls?
I am all for uniforms, I like skirts lets make everyone wear the same uniform, guys included, they can wear skirts too.
1) Yes
2)... lol
They say uniforms are double standard as also if the rules are for girls. No shorts skurt,
shirt strap not too thin, no stomach showing, so see through tops. I can’t see guys having this issue, although running I’ve seen guys wear short shorts.. girls would say keep the guy from being distracted and punish them… it’s not very practical do tho that. Asking a guy not to look and admire half naked girl is hard to prevent and with guys going through puberty it really can’t be stopped. Women tend to be sexual used because their the one that have to look preety with make up and such and we’re not supposed to see them topless so we want to..
for education I think it shouldn’t to reveling from the shoulder down and the tight. But for a guy i think sports bras and daisy dukes should be allowed.
I think especially for minors, they will need to dress modestly. Not only does it take away the peer pressure, but I'm not so keen on the idea of sexualizing a minor's body. It's bad enough we see underaged girls walk in a brazillian bikini at the beach and think it is okay... In the UK they actually have a dresscode. Although I don't think it has to necessarily reach that point, but it is far better than allowing girls to dress like they are going to a nightclub.
Uniforms are easier for parents to manage and also for the school to have an image and also put standards against.
this conversation went on when I was at school.
Also different cultures, different countries mean different standards.
even same country with very different climates can influence it.
Oh dear! No matter what we choose it will be controversial now days. I you pick E , parents will complain and people will judge and so on. I wore jeans (blue, black and grey) and shirts (one colored and multi colored) and what ever shoes you could afford
I went to a boys school that had a sister school the other side of town. The girls basically chose a skirt length they were comfortable with. Some went mid-thigh, others went mid-calf. Nobody needed granny panties because their skirts showed their ass cheeks. Nobody tripped over their hems.
I'm not sure if the girls pressured each other regarding their skirts. I do know they would give girls with a visible tan line on their tits.
I would think mid thigh length skirts/pants and any neckline that doesn't show more than the top inch of your tits/cleavage. Heels would be fine, as long as they aren't spikes or stilettos, etc.. Preferably no silky or sexy pantyhose. Not to cover up or hide sexuality but to keep from distracting others in the classroom. Boys can wear thigh length shorts/skirts.
I think a modest uniform is most appropriate. Even with this, it was common at my school for the girls to roll up their skirts between leving the house and getting to school.
They started letting girls wear trousers before I left and it seemed a popular option.
Everyone including boys should dress very modest in my opinion.
At my Highschool boys go to gym and show off their abs by wearing tank top. And it was inappropriate
We did not have any dresscodes.
We are visual to an extent. It is not about this. It is just feel uncomfortable to study among half naked students. I felt like being at playboy mansion
When i like a guy, his pimple even get very attractive for me
@hi_it_is_me123 I love the Playboy Mansion part Ms Hi, that was too funny, you made my day, thank you! ... lol
First of all, D is an absolute no! Even adults shouldn’t be wearing those. They seem to asking for the "important parts" to accidentally show on occasion.
B is probably where I’d draw the line,(maybe C if not for the low necklines), though my preference would be E. The skirts can definitely be above the knees, but there always needs to be a limit so not F. (Also not F due to the necklines again.)
Modest uniforms means less problems all around. It isn't rocket science. Both boys AND girls misbehave when allowed to wear inappropriate clothing. You allow inappropriate attire, kids do inappropriate things. If you let them be inappropriate in one way, why would they not be inappropriate in another? No fucking duh.
Two pieces of tape over the nips and a couple corks installed in the sniz and butt is all a schoolgirl should need, really. We couldn't get away with that when I was in middle school though :(
I like E. The only true competition would be the shoes, but the style of clothes you wear and brand names won’t be the focus everyone has. Plus it is easier to manage. I had so many clothes to pick from to wear each day.
i love the uniform with short skirt , we should have option to choose what top we want to wear with it...
its soo amazing..
If your talking teens highschool should just be personal judgement without any uniform. Before that should really be the parents job.
My 8 yr old got sent to the office because her skirt wasn't to her knees. I like school uniforms, but parent's and kids should be able to decide the length not the school.
They should wear pants and a polo shirt. Dresses are not mandatory
I think uniforms are a great idea but maybe open more options to girls like pants. There should also be an updae which makes them more of a classy look than ugly plaid.
B if I was was the parent or principal. If I was the teen whatever I feel like wearing.
