Do you believe beauty is truly subjective or is that just something people say to make not pretty girls feel better?

It's both subjective and objective. Subjective because there are factors that influence how and why any given individual will perceive something or someone as being beautiful, even though others may not necessarily agree, and objective because there are certain characteristics of beauty that virtually everyone can readily agree upon (ex. symmetry, the 'Golden Ratio', certain sounds like music and so on).

It is very subjective. Different people have a different way of seeing things. What is beautiful to me may not be beautiful to you.

I mean people have their preferences so it is a little subjective but it's MOSTLY not.
Society has it it's classifications of what is attractive and what is not. If this were not true we wouldn't have supermodels. Or people that we hold up as ideal versions of what beauty is.

Subjectivity still has trends. The Godfather ranks 9.2 on IMDB and is typically ranked one of the greatest films of all time. I personally don't like it that much. One of my recent favorites is Lemon which is ranked 4.7 on IMDB.

So something being subjective doesn't mean two things are going to be equally popular. Pizza is going to be way more popular than roasted crickets, for example, around the world. Mainstream appeal still has trends to be popular among as many people as possible. People lacking it have to work with smaller demographics although they could still be very loyal ones.

I think that it is definitely subjective. I have such different taste in men to my friends, and everyone seems to have preference for eye colour hair colour etc. I also think that you can find someone more beautiful if you are attracted to their personality first.
