Which dress will suit a dinner date?

What kind of dinner date? Is it a formal dinner with say a formal event like a charity auction. If so then the second dress. If it going out to eat in general then the first dress. I actually prefer the top one but am a little conservative.

I would say the short one is good for the club/bar. The long one is more appropriate for a dinner date.
