Those look ultra expensive, and the fine line details will blur over the years, and could end up looking really bad. I think the original posters tattoo is more of an old school style. Not for everyone but the proportions aren't messed up or anything, in my opinion of course.

@Dennisnky I didn’t think of the original poster image as his tat. They claim “do you like this tattoo”. People will usually say “my” if it’s theirs. I didn’t knock it completely. I just don’t like it’s jail style as better options are out there in my opinion.

A person never knows an end result on a tattoo. It’s very much luck of the draw, even with good artists, though I highly doubt an established artists work will wash out like a newbies would. From personal experience, better equipment and technique lasts.

Doesn't look like expensive high end work, but it doesn't look bad either. I think it'd look better with a little color, but I know a lot of people like to stick with black and grays if they're planning to get a lot so that the colors don't look too random everywhere.

not really... the background of the tattoo looks really simple, not enough work... and not even sure what it is either

the beast has an awkward position, and it's not entirely defined as a realistic approach so it looks a bit cartoonish

Yes and no. I like the idea of it but would personally go for a realistic look with a more detailed background as it looks kinda plain and unfinished.
An animal tatt is always a good choice tho.
