Should Short Shorts Be Equally Acceptable For Men And Women?

With the rise of women's rights, I feel that women have a higher amount of clothing options when considering socially acceptable clothing.

If you are a man who follows societal norms would you wear short shorts, skirts, thong underwear, crop tops and so on if they became socially acceptable?

As a man do you feel fashion oppression due to social values of what a man should wear?

Women, would you want your man wearing short shorts, crop tops and so on if you wear them, representing equality? why or why not?

Guys actually had shorter shorts. I think you can even notice this in movie scenes like from Teen Wolf (Michael J. Fox), and Grown Ups (Adam Sandler/ Chris Rock).

I would want him wearing short shorts if I wear them as well. I don't wear crop tops, so i'm not expecting him to. however, men's chests are allowed to be completely shirtless, so there's not really much thrill in seeing a guy in a crop top anyway.

Guys wear whatever we want. If we wanted to wear short shorts, we would. But they are less comfortable than longer, loose fitting shorts so we don't wear them.

There are a lot of double standards that matter to men and should be recognized and addressed, but this isn't one of them. I find it a little funny that the only "men's issues" women seem to care about are the issues they themselves care about and project onto men.

well, I rarely see young women wearing longer shorts or longer than short denim shorts so they can not be that bad. I didn't have a problem comfort-wise wearing them. Women when I ask them why they are wearing those denim shorts they respond well they are 'women shorts' for 'young women,' I don't even know if they sell longer shorts in women's stores.

Agree, but I would rather if all people wore short shorts because women get more clothing options than men that are socially acceptable is not fair. Men 'can't' wear dresses and skirts but Women can wear dresses, skirts, shorts and pants. If men really like feminine women and equality wouldn't they want their woman to only wear skirts and dresses, the clothing options invented for them, and for men to only wear shorts and pants, the clothes invented for them? After all, both genders for many years have only had these clothing options since Christianity.

I agree with you about bringing back visual modesty but if a woman chooses not to represent herself as visually modest then that's on her, people will perceive modest women in a better light in many situations (good relationships, occupations...). However, being modest with one's self, with one's matters is almost more important when one perceives a person when intending to make some sort of relationship. After all, if you are visually modest but not verbally modest then that says a lot about you. Nevertheless, I agree with you I do not support women wearing short short nor anybody else.

Absolutely. My go-to shorts in the summer have a 5 1/2" inseam, and I have a few pairs of swim trunks with 4" inseams (and one even shorter). They're great on a hot day.

shorts are not girls' clothes they were invented only by men for men and worn by men up until the mid-20th century. Traditionally - Women = skirts and dresses; Men = Shorts and pants. This is equality because each gender had its own clothing types but today, women = Skirts, dresses, pants, shorts, and short shorts; men = pants and shorts, is this equal to you, girls wearing men's clothing?

Equality to me is about self determination. This includes strongly that 'you' don't tell the other gender what to do and what not to do.
Therefore, I find your suggestion inappropriate- as it's coming from a lady, and (gently, and well-meaning though, as I presume) advising men to rethink ''their'' dress code.
Trousers on women are well accepted since decades - and indeed this indicates equality thinking.
Skirts on men also are known since centuries; think of the Scottish kilt or the Malay/Indonesian sarung (or: sarong) or the dresses of catholic church functionaries, or the costumes of the Arabs.

So - as a provocation to you: How well do you understand to concept of equality? Or do you confuse the term with the idea of erasing gender specific traits?
