Do you wear shoes or boots daily?

For most of my life, I've cared very little about footwear, I just got cheap shoes and wore them until I had no choice but to replace them due to them not fitting.

I've always just worn cheap, no name shoes that are thin as a sheet of paper and the soles are even thinner. I wore snow boots every now and then as a kid but they were so hard inside and it would pull on my toenails, which was very painful overtime.

Recently though I've made the decision to join the academy and they have policies regarding uniform footwear which would make such practices less than acceptable.

I decided I'd give boots a try but I was very displeased with the price tags on them, I ended up getting an 8" side zip pair from Nortiv for $60. They felt strange at first, they felt hot, slow and harder to get on and off than the $5 paper shoes I've been wearing for 10 years.

I've been wearing them daily and after the first couple days, I started to like them. They provide ankle support which is helpful for me since my foot arc is strange and makes walking with my toes facing perfectly forward feel unnatural.

Sometimes my ankles shake when I stand but the boots help stabilize my ankles, my feet feel protected and sealed from the environment and they feel very comfortable on my feet. With the ankle support, I'd feel confident kicking down a door if I had to and not breaking my ankles in the process.

I got another $70 pair from CQR without a side zip as I see a zipper as a potential weakpoint in the long term. At this point, I'm sold on boots as daily footwear, what do you wear?
