Not sure if you have the same problem that I had in the past, but for me it was because my skin was crazy dehydrated. I snooped around some skincare sites and subs for a while and bought myself some Cerave cleanser and moisturizer. I would say it minimized my pore size by at least 50% after using both products for a solid week.
I wash with the cleanser at night, and use the moisturizer. In the morning, I just rinse with water and use the moisturizer before putting on makeup. I don't wash with ANYTHING else now.
I've also been told that products with niacinamide in them can help minimize pores, but I'm not an expert. Anyway, might be worth a shot.
Ye when it comes to dehydration is there anything I can do about it? Or is it genetic? As in I drink more water than most people but will this not impact the moisture content in my face?
If my face will only absorb like 20% and needs 40% to be healthy can I only do this by removing the oils on the face with a cleanser to add moisture using a moisturiser? Otherwise I assume that just everyone would just splash water on their face and drink more and never have dehydrated skin?
Ye I saw some video saying in the morning if you have a warm shower you don't need a cleanser because it removes the oil anyway so ig that will be good.
Do I need to remove the stuff in the pores before I do skincare though? If so how? Like if I start skincare applying layers over the blocked pores won't it create a problem?
According to qualified dermatologist, you can never remove pores. It's something we are sadly stuck with but you can clean them. Check out Dr Dray and the Doctorly on YouTube, they are all certified dermatologist

You can’t ‘remove’ or ‘close’ pores as they don’t have any muscles and not removable. People with oily, or combination skin have visible pores and it’s normal
But you can minimize the appearance of pores by doing daily facial scrub and use non alcohol face toner
You can let remove pores… you can minimize the appearance of them, but you can’t get rid of them. You should talk to a dermatologist so that they can address specific concerns and give you a specific solution for those concerns.
La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo is really good for pores.
Try the sebamed foam cleanser. I swear by it. It is also great for pimples.
Dermatologist can help.
