Why do young girls wear female swimwear?

Why do girls that are too young to have boobs wear swimwear that cover their chest? There's nothing there to cover. It doesn't seem there'd need to be a reason for it. I get that once their chest starts to develop, they need to cover it, but I cannot understand why a 5-year-old girl would need to have a swimsuit that is different from a 5-year-old boy's.

I had a whole wardrobe of two piece swimsuits as a kid that showed my tummy. It was just “cute”. I dont think anyone thought sexual of it. But if i had a kid, all their swimsuits would be one piece or rashguard or something that covers boobs/belly/butt until they were 18

In many countries that's how they do it, but in the US we were based on a puritan culture, so even now that we're degenerate we have tendencies toward modesty.

Societal expectations. Teach girls early that we need to cover our chests as they're counted as a private part even though at that age we've yet to develop anything.

I'm not attracted towards young girls, which is probably why I don't see the point of covering it, if there's nothing there to cover.

It wasn't 5, it was just any girl whose boobs haven't developed yet. It's not that I want to look at them, I just don't see what the top covers when there's nothing different there than what a guy has.

it's still a private area for a girl. Age doesn't matter. Unless its a baby (up to 1 year) it's not correct.
