Hey everyone I am just wondering but why is it the norm for guys to have short hair while us girls have long hair usually?
I think the main way to answer this is that we want men and women to be different, set apart from one another. There's been a lot of acceptance and inclusion the last years, so that people who feel different and don't fit into a certain check box still feel that they have a place in society. But it's swung so far now in this other direction, that some are refusing to even identify as one gender. Guys wear dresses now, some people, you can't even tell what gender they are; especially not by how they choose to style themselves. It's their choice. But for the majority of straight people, who are attracted to the other sex, they want - and love and are attracted to - the differences. Long hair tends to wave, which creates a softness. People like women to look soft and curvy, and men to look firm and angular. Hair cuts help with this, emphasize it and each sex's features.
Plus, guys tend to not take care of their long hair as much, and it can only get so long before it looks dry, frizzy, thin.
Personally, I think this length or shorter looks great on some guys.
But never any longer than this. It's a turn off.
It's also why I love some bristles or a very short beard on most men.
We like what's different from us. That's what ensures the survival of our species - attraction.

That happens from the Roman's civilization:
The classic caesar cut is a short haircut with an even length on the top, back and sides. The fringe is typically seen worn with an uneven natural look, but at the same time it has a tidy, almost uniform look to the haircut.
Not too dissimilar from the crop (or french crop), the main difference's being the length on the back and the sides, the slight difference in style of the fringe and the texture. The caesar cut is typically worn a little shorter in the fringe than a French crop, while having more length through the back and sides. A French crop would almost always be worn with the fringe flat and straight down with loads of texture added through, but the caesar cut fringe has a little more of a less structured more natural appearance.
The caesar cut is a versatile cut that be worn with anything from straight to wavy hair, and from thin to thick hair. But it works especially great for gents that have receding hairlines. With the sides being taken short and with the fringe shaped at your hairline, with a messier look, it ticks all the boxes for the perfect haircut for a thinning top.

More often than not, what hair length is considered „normal“ heavily depends on the time you live in.

That is a very good question. Even I don't understand this. Some reasons I can think off are:
What I think is the reason why men have short hair is because men cannot manage long hair as compared to how women do. It will become way too messy.
Another reason is men have something called as balding (male balding patterns) whereas women don't suffer from that balding as men do.
As for women, I think they keep long hair because it is sort of their conditioning from birth to keep long hair and also the fact that most men love long hair on women.
Another reason is short hairstyle won't work on every face shape of a woman. Short hairstyle will only perfectly suit certain faces shapes on a woman.
This is what I think
