What style would suit me the most as a host of the awards ceremony?

I was just asked to host an awards ceremony at a formal event, they’ll buy a dress for me, but they gave me a budget and I should find a dress under that budget, my co-host will wear this dress

I have to wear something classy but no need to be too modest, I want to pick a mermaid style dress.

Which style would suit me the most?

Light pink

Champagne

Silverish mermaid

You didn't say your budget, so sorry if anything here is out of range.

If you are going to match the color of your co-host, you should talk and coordinate with them to ensure it is a good pairing. You don't want to look like you're trying to wear the same thing, or out-do them.

Maybe you want to show them you can rock the local garb? I think black is a good, elegant choice that goes with anything, and here is a velvet cheongsam that I love (I bought it for a partner), though maybe the lace up leg is a little too racy for your forma event. There are other cheongsams with more modest leg exposure. :

I prefer simple to a lot of fluff and accoutrements, like the gold leafing on the front of the cohost dress. I think that a beautiful woman looks best when she doesn't draw attention away from her natural beauty, a dress should accentuate, not distract. Ialso like a formal dress that shows shoulders:

Another good choice for being on stage is a shimmery material, that seems to sparkle from any angle. It is distracting as I said I don't really like, but if you want to draw attention, that might be a good way to go. sparkly dress example in video at link

I like the style of the champagne one the most. I wish it was in a slightly different color considering the color of the dress your co-host is wearing is similar. (it looks that way here at least) I think contrast from her dress would look better on stage rather than wearing a similar color. If that dress could be had in a different color that would be the pick for me. I am not a fashion expert at all though ha.

It's hard to say because if you are buying the dress online what if you buy it and it doesn't fit properly or you feel it looks horrible on you. The only way you will know what dress is best to wear is going to an actual dress store and trying on dresses

Great point. BUT... I believe the co host should be working to match you and not the other way around but your gracious to consider them.

Also, you should do some research about the lighting that will be there and the set/background, and if it will be recorded or televised/broadcast. All of that has an impact on what color and style to wear.
