Very dependent on the person and what type of hair and skin they have. I’ve found since I live in a very dry environment, that every other day works out well for me, but everyone is going to be a little different.

What do you mean by “after every fire?”

any actual fire that we respond to.
Barn, marsh fires are the worst, structure fires of any sort.
No matter what I use it is impossible to get the smell out of your hair.
I've found that Wisk laundry detergent works pretty well in those cases.
Now, the studies have found that all of that crap is a carcinogen, so it is best to change clothes, have a 2nd set of gear and wash yours ASAP.
Like most departments can afford 2 sets of gear for each firefighter.
After a fire you aren't even supposed to have your gear inside the truck, except for the engine company, those guys/girls are just posing for pictures for the news, so they really don't get dirty.
In reality things are changing for the better.
We just had a remediation company come in and clean the inside of our equipment, and I could not believe the water after they were done.
It was bad.
