I understand it take a man/woman to make a baby. They will be the two primary care takers and have the most influence in the child’s upbringing…supposedly.
However, I also agree that it takes a village - aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, all helping in the sense … when a child is disobedient, the other relatives have the authority to intervene.
It has been effective throughout generations.
It is the lost of this type of family unity that contributes to the fall of the US family structure.

We were staying over in a France family air b n b few weeks ago, and had the opportunity to sit with their extended family for a family BBQ. A boy around 8 was using his hand instead of knife and fork, the older cousin (15) said gently to not use his hand. The grandfather reinforced the table manner.
I saw this throughout Europe, which resonated good family structure and what the US is losing.
