Is wearing a tie clip outdated? Do you think it looks bad to wear it, why, why not?

My uncle told me yesterday to stop wearing a tie clip because he said it's "outdated"

Tie clips are fresh. I have a bunch of them. I have some cool ones, like one is a skeleton key, and then a couple are a set with cuff links. One is a shark tie clip with smaller sharks as the cuff links, and my favorite one is the tie clip that looks like a commercial airplane, and the links are little propellers that actually spin, haha. Then I just have a few classic “bar” style ones like you have in the picture in different metals. I also like them functionally, in case I take my jacket off.

How is a tie bar outdated? It helps keep the tie centred and pinned down so it doesn't flop everywhere...

Saying a clothing piece is "outdated" is stupid anyway. Only sheep who do everything everyone else does say something like that.

@YesterdaysChild Monocles were worn to help read and see things clearly for those with poor eyesight in one eye. However, they didn't walk around wearing them on the eye. It was usually attached to a button with a string and stored in the breast pocket. They put it on whenever it was needed.

Not in my experience I get them from time to time and do sell them, cufflinks are harder honestly but then I get singles as well as the market to find a French/double cuff shirt is thinner than ever

You're right. In the image, the tie bar is way too high. It's supposed to be in the middle of the tie where the suit jacket closes.
