Trending & News I have a couple, in light and dark washes. I haven’t worn them since before the pandemic, I’m kind of wondering what 20s style is going to be. Feel like we just transitioned to 2010, lmao, back at it again, yeesh. I suppose I don’t necessarily care, since style is often dictated by the young. My girlfriend and I were talking recently about how when we were teenagers and young adults, we thought older people wanted to be like us, that they were just jealous when they hated on our styles and music and all that stuff. And we were laughing because now we realize, NO, they did not want to be us, because we definitely don’t want to be like Gen Z kids (no offense to you young whippersnappers😜). When we clown on your stuff, we mean it😂 What we’re jealous of is your youth, but if we got it back, we’d go back to OUR stuff.
So I don’t know what the popular opinion is of denim jackets. I bought mine at Old Navy, which isn’t necessarily a bastion of fashion, but I think they’re good about keeping up with trends and adapting, as a very mainstream store. So if Old Navy has it on a mannequin, I feel like it’s safe. In 2018, they were doing that. 2022, I don’t know. I’d still wear it, I think. I always used them as a contrasting fabric when I wear chinos, and as the top layer of a layering scheme of jacket, flannel, t-shirt that I’d wear with said chinos in spring or fall. You of course want to avoid the “Canadian Tuxedo”, the jeans/denim jacket combo. Other than that, I think they’re fair play, I just don’t know that they’re necessarily TRENDY right now. But I’m starting to believe “in style” and “trendy” aren’t necessarily the same thing. And I feel like denim jackets are kind of iconic and timeless like their more popular cousin, jeans. Most people don’t dress with purpose, it seems, they just dress to not be naked, so it’s tough to say. I think style is a lot about how you rock it. I was hesitant to buy mine, I wasn’t sure they suited me. But I actually think they do, whereas another iconic clothing item, the leather jacket, just isn’t me.
Next time I’m at the mall I’m going to look at what they’re selling at places like Old Navy and The GAP, I feel like that’s a good barometer for general American fashion. They don’t always sell the trendy stuff the younger crowd likes, but I feel like those places wouldn’t sell something egregious. I personally think they can look good if worn right by the right person.
I actually have really strong feelings about this. As far as I'm concerned jean jackets look bad on everybody. EVERYBODY. Guy or girl. So to me, they've never been in style.
Now, I am not at all the type of guy who tries to influence what my girlfriend wears, or how she wears her hair etc. The ONLY time I have ever said "I really really hate when you wear that" was my ex's stupid-freaking jean jacket.
So the answer to your question is: "It doesn't matter. Jean jackets make anyone (objectively) less attractive!" 🙂
Vintage has been in for a while. Jean jackets fit that well, and will hopefully never be out of style. I love how durable they are and they have a great casual look
At first I did, but this dress I bought looks so good with a short jean jacket. So I'm guessing it depends on what you're wearing.

A classic never goes out of style.
I don't follow fashion trends. Trends come and go and they reappear again because sometimes a young celebrity dawns an outfit Britney Spears wore during the 2001 MTV VMA's. Then the entertainment news makes a field day about it, it gets tossed around on social media and people start reading, listening, and following. Me personally, I love vintage shirts from the 90s and Air Jordan and Nike retros from the 90s and Levi's jeans. If someone has a problem with that, I don't care. I was walking in the mall a few days ago and I saw a nice Sherpa Levi's jean jacket and I thought to myself that would be nice to wear during fall when the weather is around 15 degrees (59 F) with some comfy joggers and Nike's.
They seem to be reasonably in style here, not that I have any comprehension of what is in style at the moment.
However, the main problem is how to wear them. Unless you want to do double denim, which I'm not a fan of.
Like a lot of things they might be out of style one minute & the next minute the style is back in. My father growing up always had rips in his jeans from working & he would never throw them away. My mom would always tell him throw those fucking things away we’ll surprise surprise ripped jeans are in.
They never were in style.
Denim is one of those "working class" clothing types that will always be required. Sure, Levi and others try and reinvent it. But catwalks never feature denim as it's boring and pedestrian.
Nothing is out of style until I say so for myself 😂 because I think that style shouldn’t wear you. You should wear the style. The confidence should radiate within out and you look good in the clothes not the clothes look good on you. 😉
I think that there are two basic types of Jeans wearers.
If 'you' aren't a denim-person (also mentally), then Jeans will always look a little off on 'you'. I speak of ''REAL'' Jeans - which of course is a purposely biased opinion :) Compared with the 80's I see a lot (as in: a LOT) less of these jackets in public; that's obviously a sign that they aren't too popular any longer. But for the ''good old times'' I'd put one on; not caring if it's ''style'' or not.
Things come and go outta style. I don't roll with it I just wear what I like. I don't have a denim jacket but I have it as a vest
Couldn't care less about what is "in" or not. I wear whatever the Hell I want. 1920s clothes, Victorian, Regency, 40s, 50s, et cetera.
I've never thought they were in style.. even when I bought one several years ago.. I gave it away to charity about 3 months after buying it.
Is it available on Amazon? Amazon Prime have this try before you buy option. If you don't like it on you, just send it back
Can you post me a link and I'll see if I can find something similar on amazon?
:( I feel bad now. I didn't mean to put you off it. Sorry
Well ok then.. glad to of helped.. :D
Gurl Frenn,
Don't EVER follow the trends. I want you out in front SETTING the trends. Let the lemmings follow YOU. YOU make the rules, not the lemmings. Put on your jean jacket, and pink sunglasses, and hit the beach.
@stevienix Don’t use google and random websites as your source to prove your point🤦♂️ It just makes you look dumb. A lot of the information from Google is terribly unreliable.
@OneManOnly01
Yes, Google and other sites are not nearly as reliable as GAG. Gag is the place to be, and your just proved that.
@stevienix That’s a weird and kinda dumb argument you are making because I never told you to believe things on GAG. I would suggest you to look for a scientific source. Possibly a research paper or something.
@OneManOnly01
Amy realized I was right, and shut her trap. My only goal in answering this question, was to tell the awesome lady that she is not obliged to follow trends. She's better than that. I want her to be the leader of the pack. If you can't get onboard with her or her jean jacket, then just get the fuck out of the way.
Tens of thousands of guys will want her.
@stevienix No, no, not all, I don’t have anything against her or her jean jacket and neither do I have anything against you but I’m just suggesting that you shouldn’t believe everything you see on google or random websites.
And leader of the pack, huh? So you’re telling her to go hunting?
Not sure if links are allowed on here, but any actually good source (for example, Scientific American's article where several professors debunked the hot water rumor) will explain that your understanding of water is incorrect. You can read it or not, but you obviously don't care to listen to me
Jean jackets will never be outnof style. The silhouette of the jacket is what gets dated.
Not at all thankfully! Lol! I just hope that leather never goes out of style.
I don't follow trends or ever know what's in style lol. I just wear anything comfy. I'm not a fan of jean jackets and I also don't see them often so maybe they aren't in style anymore.
I haven't thought about it. I have not owned one in decades. But now that you mention it, I used to like them! I should go out and get another one.
Good plan :D I thought the same right now
I wouldn't say it's out of style, at the end of the day depends cause Jean jackets are very cute on CERTAIN females
really depends on the style of the jacket itself and the overall outfit it's wore with. Demin clothing is typically more durable and jackets made out of it tend to have many pockets.
Ion gaf what’s out of style I’ll dress like MC Hammer and make it look good
Probably, but I honestly don't give a damn, and like them anyway. :-)
Jean jackets are cool somehow whenever I wear it I feel cool I don't know Y🥺😅🥰
Probably but I still like wearing them And I don't care about other people's opinions
They definitely aren't "common" anymore but I don't mind the look (on women).
No I really like them. Plus I like when women wear them I think it is attractive personally
They've been out of style for a very long time. (In fact, they may have even come back IN to style! Lol)
It’s not out of style. It’s just that they are not warm enough.
I wouldn't know style if it smacked me in the head.🤣
I haven't worn a jean jacket since 1992 and even then I thought they were out of style.
The only thing that ever really goes out of style is a bored mind.
Only pants should be jeans. The rest looks so silly, and out of date.
Mostly out of mainstream fashion, but still popular with older folks.
no i like them on women. especially with cute top underneat
I would say yes but to be honest I don't like them very much
They went out of style over 30 years ago. Welcome to 2022.
aent those called denim? and yeah probably but wear whatever is comfortable
NEVER!!! JEAN JACKETS ARE AWESOME❤
What are you wearing it with?
They are like jeans. They never really fade out.
I have several. Including some I keep bleached bright white to wear over my spring/fall motorcycle jacket.
Naw, the classic ones are timeless
It woudl not matter to me. I would still wear it.
Yes, they were more popular in the '80s and '70s
Jeans will never be put of style
No I’m looking for an oversized one
i dont know what is in style
There always in style
Not at all they're timeless
Why would they be?
They're called Denim jackets and no they aren't.
Hello... 1985 called and wants it's jacket back.
So out of style...
Nope! Al you needs is a deconstructed bias cut silhouette and it's completely on trend.
@DermalPunch naaah...
