I’m thinking about replacing this blue with brown, what do you think?

I have begun coloring Quazden in his Opplovia form and I’ve made the face marks blue. I’m not too sure about it, it seems like too many bright colors, especially he is supposed to be a representative for endings. I think making it a sort of light brown would make him look more intimidating and serious. Thoughts?

Green/Blue/Orange is a color scheme that obviously works well together. It will be more lively. Brown/Green/Orange, not so much... Sometimes you see those sort of earth tones in art that for example represents autumn (kind of relevant for Halloween/Thanksgiving), but the dragon would be more muted... If you're trying to represent the dragon character wise as like an earth element dragon, then I could see a light brown, dark brown, and maybe some green to make it look the part with rock shards and moss growth on the stones.

He will have some green, but he isn’t an elemental dragon or anything like that. The Gendaruses are the Race of Representatives, each species represents something.

I would keep the colors in the foreground bright and well-saturated, and that could certainly include colors in the Sienna to Gold to Umber range. More critical than the colors per se is that as you move further towards the tail, the color should become lighter in saturation, and more muted in hue. (You can use a touch of the complementary color or even a gentle gray and hint of white as toners to achieve that effect. All helps create a dimension, perspective view of the creature.

No, the reason it looks off is its matte but solid, add either a sheen or small textured skin/scales, the color is fine.

I would add even more details if it was a once or twice thing, but since I am making conga like a Giga Chad, I have to draw this many more times. It would just be too much. Additionally, I already plan to draw realistic dinosaurs in the chapter dividers like my T-Rex portrait. It would just take way too long. I think the brown will look better though.

that is four different and very distinctive colours... might be one too many, yes

perhaps, a different shade of blue? one that is not so bright?

if a colder shade of blue seems still too much, then maybe greens and brownish might tone it down better

Thank you. He can destroy worlds in this form though so, you know.. might make him less cute. His is pretty docile though, you could have an actual conversation with him if he was real but he doesn’t like speaking English.
