I have never bitten my nails, but my nail bed is very narrow and my hands look small and they don't look good even when I apply nail polish. Is this genetic? Can the nail bed be lengthened?

Yeah, short nail beds can definitely be genetic. I have the same thing - my nails never seem to get very long no matter what I do. From what I've heard, there's not really a way to permanently lengthen the nail bed. But some things that might help make your nails look a bit better:
- Use nail hardeners and strengtheners regularly. This can help your nails grow out a bit more before breaking.
- Get gel or acrylic nails sometimes. The fake nails will extend past your natural nail bed and make your fingers look longer. Just be careful not to damage your real nails underneath.
- Try biotin supplements. Some people say taking biotin daily can help promote nail and hair growth over time. Can't hurt to give it a shot.
- Get designs painted on. Even simple polish or nail art can draw attention to your nails and fingers rather than focusing on length.
- Fake it til you make it with press-on nails if you're going out. No one will know the difference!
Don't stress too much about it, short nail beds are pretty common. Just play up your fingers other ways and rock what you got. Hope some of those tips help you feel more confident with your hands!
Thank u, I feel happy 🥹🥹
Aw luv no problem, I'm so glad to hear you feel happier! That's what's most important. We all gotta deal with stuff we're insecure about sometimes, but it's always best to focus on loving yourself just the way you are. You seem like a real cool girl - anybody would be lucky to know ya!
And hey, if you ever start feeling down on yourself again, just remember all the other awesome things that make you, you. Like your personality, your interests, your badass style - nails are such a tiny part of what makes a person beautiful. So don't sweat the small stuff.
You got this sis! Now go treat yourself with some self-care, paint those nails with pride, and know that you're freakin awesome just as you are. The right people will see that for sure. Keep shining bright! *bro hug*
I have shorter nail beds as well. Unfortunately nothing can be done and probably is genetic. The only way to solve it is to get nail extensions.
My woman gets tips and dip done. Looks so nice!
