Does anyone ever feel sorry for people who run small businesses that do a good job, but don't attract much clientele?

I was struggling to find a barbershop that was open & available after finding out at late notice that the one I normally go to had a pipe leak. So I was wandering through the high street and I found one small barbershop, never heard of the guy on his own no client waiting , I took gamble.
Afterwards he gave me perfect zero fade better than the previous barber efforts & that guys business was booming before the leak.

if they were doing a good job... then it would not fail like that

even if they were doing a good job... they're not doing the one thing that is needed to step up

but yeah, it does suck monkey butt when the circumstances and almost all odds are against you, but... that's the business' world

doing good is not enough... because others are doing as good or better than you, you need to do great and better to stand out and to stand up too

Yes. There's a grocery store in my town that I go to every two months or so that usually only has 3 or 4 customers in it at a time. They sell mostly off-brand products yet their prices aren't that great. I wish I could do all my shopping there but they just don't have the brands I want. I don't know how they stay in business but I feel bad for them.

yes, especially restaurants. I hate seeing big chain restaurants packed and good local restaurants with few customers.
