At what age you started buy your own clothes?

In High School (Ohio) we would walk down to the 'Boulevard" to Kenmore Tailors and Clothiers, where two great Jewish gentlemen had a great store featuring about everything in mens clothes. I learned about styles, fabrics, in suits and also dress shirts and ties. I learned How to dress from Jack and Mel, and continued to buy from them for years afterward and even here in CA, ... they shipped clothes to me from Ohio.

I think I was 19, when I had a good-enough paying part-time job. Before then. my parents always bought my clothes. Interesting story: as an adult, my mother always bought me t-shirts and underwear for Christmas. She did that every year until she died.

Well, one year, for my b-day, I got well over $60 so, I bought myself a new pair of shoes, they were $60.00. I only got to wear them for about 2 years before mom threw them away!
I can't find clothes to fit me so, she'd always order them for me at work (J. C. Penney) but, I bought most of my own t-shirts from my 20's onwards.

13 my dad would give us 200 each and we would go with my mom shopping. My sister would always only waste 100 at most and I would always reach the full 200. I was always surprised at how quickly the numbers would add up.
