If a woman says: " I really like the way you look in that shirt", or "that is my favorite outfit on you would you mind wearing that?" it is totally reasonable to give her what she wants from time to time.

If a guy says: "You look amazing in that dress, that is my favorite dress would you wear that tonight" or if he says "those clothes show too much skin would you not wear that" it is totally reasonable to concede.

But the way you word it sounds too much like "go pick out my clothes mommy"

It depends on what it's for. I think girls have a better sense of style so I might make a couple of tweaks but trust my SO in the process.

For girls, I'd say it's nice to wear something that men enjoy seeing you in or something where they know the feel of the room at their parents or something like that. Some parents might be more open minded than others, so it's good to get a heads up on social situations that you might not be aware of either but of course that advice goes for guys as well
