Since they wanted tho write made in italy on their products they imported the chinese sweatshop as a whole to Italy and paid their workers 2 dollars an hour and the materials don't seem to cost that much either. So the main expense they have is just paying celebrities to make their products seem luxurious. So you're directly paying celebrities who already have a ton of money, more money for something that is worthless. And of course the shareholders and executives get money too. by the way all the luxury brands do this just Armani and Dior were the ones that got caught in this case.
