Carmine is like an acid used to make red dye and its found in a specific kind of beetle, I think it's only used for red things and it's used to give food red color and even for things like lipstick and I think for fabrics coloring as well, it's written in the ingredients for the most part so do you have anything with the bug guts? Lol

I wouldn't be surprised if some canned things that I occasionally eat, like chili, contain it. I asked my wife and she wasn't sure either. She reads labels, too, but never noticed it.

I think it is used a lot in things like fast food, strawberry shakes, which I never have. She doesn't use bright red lipstick.

I just tend to buy make-up and skin care that's vegan because I don't see any reason why animal products need to be in those.
