I don't wear boots often. In my personal opinion, I would wear short boots or ankle boots for mid length skirts. Basically making sure part of my calf can be seen, so the short boots I picked won't be higher than mid calf.

If it were me, I’d want high boots and mid length hem line, below the knees to kinda blend the boots and skirt a bit.
