What's the deal with being bald? Why is that looked down upon so much in society?

I'm not bald I look in it the photo haha I recently cut my hair very short, however that's besides the point. I always heard people especially women say that bald is a turn off, I never understood why. I think bald women look good too

They say that male pattern baldness is inherited. So sorry young guys with hair, if your dad was bald, the chances are you will be, too! I wish I still had hair, because I think I looked better then. And a few years ago, my mom (since deceased) suggested that I shave my head, since I was going bald anyway. That was a real shock because she had always been very conservative about appearances. I never thought she would go for that! But the woman in my life whose opinion really counts, my wife, calls it, "The dumb hairs leaving the smart head." She can't stand guys who try to cover their bald spot with comb-overs! She says it looks like a pot lid! She says sooner or later they have to start combing it over from their underarms!

I see nothing but advantage. Even when looking at evolutionary biology. Hair loss is linked to higher testosterone levels. This makes bald men better mates and protectors. It’s efficient; the absolute pinnacle of wash and go. I save time and money on maintenance and hair products.
I started shaving because i didn’t much like anything that i could do with my hair that wouldn’t cost a bunch of time and money. I am fortunate to not have a weirdly shaped head, so i kept it up.
I’ve been shaving my head for so long that last year, when i decided to try to grow a mohawk, i discovered that i am now balding. Ell oh ell! I am bummed that i didn’t get to have my mohawk. Otherwise, i don’t miss it at all.

Being bald isn't necessarily bad if you're an older man. It looks mature, especially with a beard. Obviously, it helps if you are good looking, tall, etc. as well. But hair is a major feature of human attractiveness and something most people have, so if you don't you're losing out on potential looks points and you stand out. As for why it's looked down upon, it's basically an attractiveness thing. We evolved to find things attractive because they're evolutionarily beneficial. Judging people by their looks is, in fact, often the right thing to do.

It does have negative associations and connotations. Always associated with the very worst permutations of it, ie out of shape, old, horseshoe, etc.

It seems Americans have more of an issue with it in general. In the UK people seem more down to earth.

I have a shaved head. I'm fit, have a six pack, beard, sharp jaw line, tall and slim. And I think I'm more attractive than with most people with hair.

I honestly have never realized it's something bad, what I do think looks bad though is when you let the hair you still got left be there still, it is not a nice haircut you would normally ask to be cut that way, but maybe that's just me. Instead I would like guys in that situation to just shave it all off. I think bald guys should just own it, all the way.

Hair does look better most of the time, so it can matter there for certain careers or dating wise. As for men's negative reaction to balding, they are losing control over it and it can take some time to adjust to that (coming to terms with it).

The only issue I can think of when being bald, is merely the sensitivity to being exposed to the sun's UV rays. Otherwise, if being bald is a turnoff for some ladies, well, that means they're rather superficial and thus not interesting. No offence meant.
