  • “Color” and “colour” mean exactly the same thing.

    “Color” is the American English spelling.
    “Colour” is the British English spelling (also used in Canada, Australia, etc.).

    So it’s just regional preference, not a meaning difference. Use “color” for US audiences and “colour” for UK or international ones.

    The British borrow their version from old French while color is closer to latin. Both versions arose for political reasons

      It is actually that bloody Caxton and his Flemish type setters again, frenchifying English. Couldn't help themselves from putting silent letters in at the drop of a hat. Those buggars are responsible for putting the 'h' in ghost and screwing up lots of other words as well.

    They refer to the same thing the only difference is without the "u" is the US English way of spelling it and with the "u" is the British English way of spelling the word.
