Which of these dresses is most age-appropriate for a family wedding?

I'm going to a wedding and needed a dress. Not happy with what I own,. bought these because they were on sale. But now thinking of it, I thought maybe they are not appropriate for me. I look younger for my age, I've been told, but I don't want to look ridiculous or try to look younger. The wedding is at my cousin's home, and feelings there can be a bit old fashioned for women. The women there have old fashioned ideas on what a woman my age can wear. So, I got these and was going to wear a short black sweater/cardigan over the second dress. Both dresses flare out. The last one caught my eye, and I'm able to return the other two. I like the strange sleeves on that one. What do you think?

I think number 3 is way too formal for a family wedding. You don't want to draw more attention than the bride.

I like number one. You can't go wrong with dark or subdued colors.

And don't let anyone tell you what you should wear for your age. Wear what you feel like wearing.

Of course they are formal occasions, but a bit less so if it's with your immediate family members. What I meant is you should dress in accordance with the rest, but that's of course difficult to know.

Oh, I see. It's actually my male cousin's daughter who lives in in Puerto Rico. I always see him and his wife when I visit, but it isn't too often. PS--the bride showed me a picture of her dress in secret, away from her mother's eyes. It's in my opinion very gaudy, all layers and lace, and so this dress at the end of my list seems like nothing in comparison. Of course I never said anything. But I definitely do not want to have too much attention as you and some others are saying here.

My wife is 69, your age. She had a DMX, so no longer has a rockin' figure but I am proud of her for being "fabulously flat" and no shame in what she has endured.

All of these are appropriate for a 70yo woman. Though I think the first one is the most appropriate for a wedding. very chic. The second is too casual, and the third is too close to bridal colors and a bit too extra.

I wanted to say that the first and last options are very suitable for your age.. if you were to wear a cardigan over the second option, that would work well too... but the first option is my personal favorite…however, the black color made me hesitate a bit, it might have been better if it were available in navy blue or dark red... but the final decision is yours, of course.. these are just some ideas I’m sharing with you.. Thanks, ElenaLena. The first one was only available in that color. Thew wedding with take place in the tropics, I'm sure there will be AC. I loved the pattern on the 2nd one, and was going to wear it with a waist short black cardigan. It looks nice with it. I do look better with a dark blue, but black is also ok with me. The 3rd one screams "old matron". Like great aunt Eunice. The 1st and 2nd are cut for a tall slim body and have a classic style. If that's you, go for one of those.

Also, Aunt Eunice is gonna be dragging those giant sleeve balls through the cocktail sauce, salad dressing, potatoes, and the cake. Probably knock over some wine glasses reaching for the butter. The other 2 are sleeveless. Much safer after day dinking at a wedding. You don't want people whispering about Aunt Eunice again. And Aunt Eunice's dress looks like Late October / early November in New York or Boston. It's still hot out.
