I always had 20/20 vision. But in my 40s, my eyes got a bit blurry, especially in my right eye.
I first noticed it when some friends and went shooting in the desert and I aimed at a long distance target with a rifle. I could barely see the target. I used to be a dead eye with a gun.
Then I failed the eye test at the DMV and they said had to wear glasses when driving. So I got glasses and kept them in the car but never used them.

In my 60s I went to renew my glasses prescription and they said I had cataracts. I had cataract surgery and now have 20/20 vision in my left eye but have to wear readers.
As it turned out, my right eye has glaucoma with 20/80 vision at best. Glasses can't improve that. I take drops to keep it from getting worse.

At least I no longer have to wear glasses when driving, according to the DMV but I do use readers a lot.

No, I don't, even though I should. Why? Because when you're an older guy with glasses, it's much easier for people to place you in their chosen category, the one they want to put you in, instead of assessing you on your own merits.

Not normally. I DO HAVE glasses but almost never wear them. Unless I have to read small print, I get on quite well without them. The last 3 pair I bought I almost never used because they were too strong and made my eyes worse, not better!!

I think I might need those bifocals soon. I can't see shit anymore. Can't see far without the glasses, and can't see near with the glasses. Hit me all of a sudden around 40s. 40s sucks.
