Why do employees at the makeup counter always apply makeup so much better than I do? I?

It seems so easy until I get home and try it. It never fails that I cannot do it they way that they do. I have the same problem with my hair. The hair stylist works and styles it in a way that I can get close to but never exactly like he does it. Why is this so, and how can improve both of these skills?

Because you're watching someone who does this for a living 😂 They have years of practice, know exactly what products and techniques work and can see your face/hair from angles that you can't see yourself. They also usually have access to professional, higher-quality products and tools than the average person has at home.

I think the biggest thing is to stop trying to copy the finished result exactly. They're professionals, so it's completely normal that most of us won't be able to recreate it 100%. If you want to improve skills, pay attention to how they achieved the result and ask your makeup artist or hairstylist what they're doing, what products or tools they're using, they can give you a tip. There are also tons of tutorials online for both hair and makeup.

Because they're professionals in the buisness... practice makes perfect and applying make up is like art on canvas. It has to be seamless and effortless. Not to hide but to enlighten your best features so I guess it's more about what drives you in the moment in which you apply make up.

Go there on a quiet day and ask them how to do it best. Just ask them. Or watch a video preferably from the manufacturer and look closely at how them apply it in the videos.
