She turned me down but still acts interested?

I asked this girl out from work, but she said that she was talking to someone else now and that she wished I had asked her earlier. Thing is, she still stares at me from across the store and smiles at me. I told her to let me know if things change and that I'm still interested in her. What's with her still giving me looks and the like if she turned me down?

2 things could be happening here;

1) She's getting an ego boost from knowing that you still like her and want her, so she is looking at you to give you the impression that she still likes you thus you stay interested in her.

2) She geniuely does still like you but was probably put off from before because of something, or she's not sure she wants anything just yet and is keeping you around because she wants you but not yet.

Either way the simple answer is to ignore any "flirtatious" advances like looking at you and smiling and show her that you have changed your mind and don't need her anymore. This will then be the deciding factor for her, if the reason was 1) above she will stop what she is doing and move on or if it's 2) she will try more effort to get closer to you because she has decided.

I would say this girl is just looking for an ego boost in him. It's nice to know someone likes you because it says "I'm worthy". The girls isn't mean, it's just how human beings are. Some people are just nice also...I always smile and make eye contact with people, because I know that that is the best way to make a connection and/or make friends. It's kind of like a gauruntee that someone can't possibly have a reason to not like you.

As a girl ill tell you what to do to make SURE she stays interested. Ignore her.

Not in a mean way, but just a little bit, don't look at her so much to see that she's staring at you. You have already told her you are interested, she knows, she's interested in you, otherwise she wouldn't stare.

Trust me on the ignoring thing, there's a guy I like and he played it cool, acted uninterested and basically ignored me for awaile and it sent me wondering all the time WHY. I hate it that guys do this, but they do, and it makes us want them even MORE.

But make sure you don't ignore her the entire time, otherwise she will just think you are a jerk.

Honestly if she really wanted you she would drop whatever it possbly is with someone else. She might just want you around in case whatever doesn't work out with the someone else she has a fall back plan
