Should I pay for her movie ticket?

This girl texted me today and asked me if I wanted go to the movies. I haven't talked to her in 3 weeks and 3 weeks ago she had a boyfriend but I don't know if she still does. so when we go to see a movie do I pay?

People say 'whoever asked the other out should pay', but I have my doubts about it...

I'm not a hypocrite, so I admit that I know nowadays things are different, BUT I still think the guy should pay... However, the situation that you described is a little different the ordinary, because she was the one who made the 1st move... so you *technically* don't need to pay! But you could at least offer to pay... Or she pays her own ticket and you pay for yours...?! Just don't expect her to pay for your ticket because it would be a bit odd (in my opinion) ... (I can already see that many people will disagree with my answer, but I'm just being honest!)

If I asked a guy to the movies, I would expect to pay my own way.

I have a question for you - how would you feel is she paid your way when you got to the movies? I was just wondering because it seems the choice is to go dutch or have the guy pay, instead of the girl picking up the tab. Hmmm.

No. She invited you, and if you two aren't dating, then pay for your own ticket, and she'll pay for hers.

I always seem (against my will) to offer to pay. But nearly every time I get a "No no no no! I'll pay for it."

That's just me though.

I personally believe that each person should pay for their own ticket, unless it's a date or something with greater meaning behind it.

(My girlfriend will never let me pay for her, unless she's out of cash, in which case she pays for something at a later date keeping it nice and even.)
