Can I get a refund from Australia post or Canada post?

I sent my parcel on the 13th of November for Christmas was meant to arrive between 20-25 days never did. Finally was to arrive at the destination today but the tracker then said sent back to sender (me).
I’m angry and stressed, called up my mom to see if she could do something Canada post said they can’t do anything about it even though there was apparently nothing wrong with the parcel and I had paid duty of taxes to get it through Canada border.
Called up Australia post buddy was like your mom needs to be provactive and ask for intercept (mind you she did for an hour) and each time i asked him if I could get a refund he said you need to look at what’s going on now and instead of the future.
I’m just asking if anybody has went through this and who do you think I should call for a refund or if I can get one at all?
