Why did he lock eyes with me?

Me and a coworker were chatting and he was flirting with me sorta (everyone thought we were dating cause of our chemistry). Then this other man came near us and me and the other man couldnt stop staring in each others eyes even while the first guy kept talking to me. I was smiling also. Its just weird that we couldnt stop locking eyes.

Okay from what I understand is that there are 2 men here. The first is trying to flirt with you or that is what you think, he was talking to you so I assume he was giving you eye contact.

Then there is this other man who comes near both of you but you see the second man and then lock eyes with him and you say you couldn't stop locking eyes with him also.

From what I can understand is that it seems clear that you find the second man very physically attractive, appealing and maybe you may even like this other man ( from a distance at least). Otherwise I am sure you would have continued talking to the first man who was talking to you, flirting also.

You would have not locked eyes with the second man.

Yes thats what happened and yes i do find him irresistibly attractive. Sucks cause that probably made it really obvious to everyone whereas before it was pretty much a secret i tried to hide for my own reasons. I wish he did like me as much as I like him but maybe that was just a fluke of time.

Well the second guy if he likes you then maybe he is hesitating since you were talking to the first guy whom you said you like.

Maybe the second guys thinks you like the first guy so of course he is only limiting to looking at you but won't come to talk to you, he is kind of backing off.

Another reason I can think off is people find attractive and good looking people intimidating so maybe you come off as a super confident and attractive woman and so he gets a little bit nervous.
