How to make a move on a guy over instagram?

I’m 15 years old and I think this guy is cute, for context he was in one of my classes last semester and we have never spoken before.
I’ve had my eye on him for a little while and today I requested his spam account and got in! Whenever I talk to guys, I always fail at it, I’ve never had a boyfriend or many talking stages. How do I text him first? Or how do I make him text me first? For now I just want to be friends with him. What do I say?

Sure everyone is giving the universal message of taking action in-person, but these days is a lot about social media and it’s what you’re asking advice about. I would suggest starting a slow pace by slowly liking a few of his stories for him to notice that you pay attention or notice him to see if he will reciprocate to do the same or message you.


But if you are bold, you can like one of his stories/posts and/or DM him something that caught your attention, ask him a question about his interest per his stories/post to start a conversation, just be direct you think he looks good or how he presents himself in whatever way you find him attractive, or respond to a story of his in a flirty manner. Great question, you’re under 18 right? I think with that age group might be different… maybe it’s best to make a post question for boys around your age what they liked/looked for lol. However, what I can tell you is that just know every individual has their own likes/dislike and it is very easy for society.. most guys or even women to pick on what is standard beauty for females and what’s on social media… but the most important thing is just learning to love yourself for you, nurturing your body for what it is now and what you want it to be in the future, finding someone who will accept you for you and uplift you in many ways to be the best you (and vice versa), and even if a boy doesn’t like you for you physically/personality.. doesn’t mean someone else won’t and don’t let that push you down :)

The best way to start communicating is to find a common interest and start from there. For instance, say he works at a grocery store, maybe ask him whether they are hiring and whether it's a good place to work?

If you are able to read his Instagram then you can see what he is doing/posting and open the conversation on one of those items.

As @Nikki1989 says try doing this in the real world, when you see him, just say hi and that you added him on Insta. If he’s posted you can mention it, if not mention how you can never think about what to post. It’s just normal basic conversation, you have to start talking to people in the real world and not from behind a screen.
