My little brother is trying to show me how to play basketball because I'm out of shape lol

So we go down to Hoboken and find a pickup game only I don't know the rules so good so I'm fouling everyone left and right.

I didn't know you can't set a pick in the paint, I watched my first full game a few months ago 😂.

And then they got mad at me that I swatted the ball on his layup and he tried to say I hit his hand... Which maybe, but I didn't think so.

Then my brothers telling me that people fight over that and what if the guy had a gun. Like what kind of sport is everyone so soft? If that's the case, then my favorite player is lebron James and I'm just gonna learn to flop like that.

I think tonight we should go ball up in Newark. Someone said something about Garfield st.

Yes, but not for rough play. In general I'm of the mind, "no blood no foul". But common sense applies. Due to my size I typically play the 5 position. If you're going to play the pivot position you have to accept you're going to get hit a bit, it just goes with the territory. But I've had plenty of players guarding me that if they couldn't beat me, would try to intimidate me. Nobody intimidates me. And if they couldn't intimidate as a last resort would Try to injure me by undercutting me or something. I don't play that 💩!

Why can't you pick in the paint? I mean it makes me wonder what you did.🤣 because there are a lot of times where picking in the paint is perfectly fine.

Next time a guy tell you you hit his hand tell him your hand is part of the ball. Hacking his arm is one thing. But the hand is incidental contact. If he can't stand that maybe he should try a new sport like tennis.

Thankyou! I'm a pretty big guy. 6ft 238lb and I'll appear out of nowhere when he's chasing the guy running for a layup like a brick wall. 😂 so I get why it's a little frustrating.

It's just surprising to me because these kids all try to act so tough and like they grew up in a dangerous area and then they're practically in tears about something that seems like nothing to me.

You should not be under threat playing ball and it isn't worth dying for unless you get a schollarship and a few million.
