Be direct flirting should be more to gauge if there is mutual interest or not. I know it’s scary and awkward but the thing of it is if you aren’t direct you could miss out. Someone may just see it as too large of a risk if he’s into you and eventually move on. Never assume you’re the only woman whose interested in him. Assume there are women around him a lot that he knows well as well as women who may throw themselves at him so don’t wait too long.

First off, don't get touchy touchy. Everyone needs their personal space. Guys, just like girls, can feel harassed too. I'm guessing your relationship with him is solely professional as well.
