Girls: do you smile at a guy you like?

I was wondering if you girls only smile at a guy you like...consider my situation

I got a class with this girl, this is what happened.

1 Some guy was late and made a weird sound as he walked across the classroom. I noticed it but was focusing in class - this girl sitting beside me noticed it and started to smile at me (I was ignoring her since I was paying attention in class, but I could tell she was looking and smiling at me for a good 5 seconds or so). As soon as she found out I didn't care, she turned her head down back to the notes...I think she was embarassed.

2. Same girl again. I sat on the bus and was reading the paper. I felt someone was starring at me so I looked up and it was the same girl. This girl was standing there starring at me and smiling again. We looked at each other for a couple of seconds but I went back to reading the paper thinking to myself, "what a weirdo, or do I have something on my face"

So do you think this girl was trying to flirt with me // talk to me. I've noticed she's a pretty shy girl. Her smile was pretty genuine like she was looking at me as if I was a cute guy or something. Not one of those dirty smiles or oh you're hot smiles etc.
