Guys, why would you NOT tease a girl?

They say guys show interest through teasing.

Then for what reasons would you not tease a female acquaintance/friend?

There's a guy who feels comfortable teasing and being playful with other girls (many of them are mutual friends).

However, though he jokes with me, he doesn't joke ABOUT me or picks on ME personally like he does with other girls.

- I know he doesn't dislike me.

- A female friend of his told me that he "respects" me...but I'm sure he doesn't tease other girls because he disrespects them.

- Some of our mutual guy friends tease me so he knows I don't mind being teased and can play along.

So what's up with this?

- Wow, it's been 11 months since I asked this question.

I've moved on. I have a boyfriend now and it's not this guy. The guy that this question referred to doesn't fancy me at all, I'm sure now. and I've stopped caring. I've realized that he never liked me in that way and probably just never cared enough to develop a rapport with me.

I love teasing girls. The only reason I wouldn't is because I think she wouldn't appreciate it. If he's the teasing type, then he sees this as a way of affection. So either, he just doesn't like you enough to tease you, or he doesn't know you enough to tease you. Try teasing him first - that'll give him the green light to tease you. And if he doesn't, I'm afraid it means he's probably not interested enough in you.

I actually have a crush on him. There, I said it. :)

But as far as I'm aware, I'm nice and casual when I talk to him...though I AM an introvert. We do talk and laugh about things. I'm not the touchy-feely type (neither is he) who giggles a lot...perhaps that's part of it.

Hmm...I'm pretty vibe-retarded, but we do have a lot in common when it comes to interests and preferences. He seems interested in and supportive of my plans, which are also similar to his.

I don't dare assume anything. He's friendly to everyone.

As for what HE feels, I'm going to play it safe. Yeah, I'm a chicken. That's one reason I'm here on GaG.

haha, good point. Well, see what plays out - he seems like an easy going guy, and you seem to genuinely enjoy his company. I wouldn't do anything drastic - just wait, and see, and hope. And it wouldn't hurt to do what you girls do best: attract.

can't compete and won't compete are two different things - don't underestimate the power of "casual ol' me" to capture a guy's attention. In a world of lipstick, makeup, and manipulation, a genuine girl being "casual ol' me" is a curious and attractive thing :)

Easy. He likes you. He doesn't tease you like he teases the others because he likes you and doesn't think that you'd like to be teased and will be "turned off" by the whole thing. A good sign if a guy likes a girl is if he treats her different than his other female friends. Of course it's only a sign and not a rule.

When people talk about guys teasing girls its not so much about the tease. It's about the change in normal behavior .

If he teases other girls and not you, it's a sign that he's too nervous or worried about having to create funny things to tease you about in order for the encounter to go smoothly. He's worried he'll trip up, you'll get mad, your friendship/crush will be hurt.

Teasing is just part of who I am and I do it with everyone. More with a girl I like though. To answer your question though, I wouldn't tease a girl if she had no sense of humor and takes things said to heart. There's no fun and teasing someone like that because they take it as an insult.

In my opinion, he suspects you can't handle it.

When it comes to busting on someone and teasing them, it's key to know your audience. Know who can handle what.
