If a girl smiles in my direction but not at me?

A girl who has the same major as me, about the same age...She fairly often smiles in my direction, but not at me. And I won't be standing next to anyone, so it's not like she just smiling at the guy next to me. I'll smile at her and she'll smile, without even looking. Does she just sound shy?

Do you know if she looks at you (eye contact) then looks away and smiles? Because that could definitely mean she's shy but if she's constantly looking in your direction she might find you attractive/appealing
