Whats the difference between chewing and biting? And is there a difference?

This may be a dumb question but me and my friends were playfully arguing about it

Bitting is holding on, cutting, or tearing something with your teeth but chewing only refers to grinding something with your teeth.

You bite with your front teeth to grab and cut off food to take it into your mouth. You chew with your molars in order to make it easier to swallow and take in more of the flavour to your taste buds.
