Do you buy loose vegetables or prepacked?

Loose is cheaper but you have to put them in a bag yourself and those little plastic bags are so fiddly, opening them is an IQ test for some people. Prepacked is more expensive and you can't choose what's in the bag but it's quicker for lazy people to pick up. Another advantage of prepacked is the produce hasn't been fondled and squeezed by dozens of old ladies with bladder problems and no personal hygiene.

Bladder and hygiene issues aside... I'll take my chances with the loose ones and wash 'em good when I get home. BUT BUT BUT... I will not be buying any from this store in NYC... per vice. com, this was an actual craig's list post lol...

Loose, Chose the right quantity and quality of produce you need. A trick i use for the plastic bag, they spray leafy greens in the supermarket at a set time multiple times a day. use the water to your advantage to moist your fingers a bit to help you open the plastic bag. Its true that open produced are touch by a lot of old ladies. im sure they have more than bladder problems but that is not important to the story but what is, is that i wash all fruits and vegetables regardless of loose or packaged when i get home and leave them in quarantine for when i need them.

Loose whole veggies are safer compared to packaged produce, we get listeria and salmonella in the USA plus they are more fresh and cellophane wrapped to protect from fondling grandmas’ paws. Lots of veggies can be blanched and frozen for later use when they are on sale. I always smell my zucchini and cucumber for fishy odor as it might be have been returned.

We buy loose veggies. The exception would be the occasional net bag of onions. We even buy from farmer's markets when we can. I'm suspicious that prepackaged stuff has been processed and treated with sanitizing chemicals or radiation or some shit in giant factories that may not even be in my country. We try to do "farm to table" as much as possible.

Loose. Where I live the large majority of produce is loose. Only certain things are pre-packaged. Or I pick them from the garden if I can. (tiny garden but enough to get some food from it)

Lick the tip of your finger and thumb and it's easy. Since corona I spend an hour trying to open them because people would probably freak if I licked my finger at the grocery store.
