The original chili in Mexico didn't have beans. Did you know that? WoW! I was surprised cause I love chili partly for the beans aspect.
I had a friend from Texas that swore "real" chili didn't have beans or meat. Sounded like he was eating spicy tomato soup to me.

Yes I did, some people argue. they're a side dish but I like mine mixed in. Tomatoes are a recent addition too. Unlike most dishes there's non such thing as the original chilli. The dish was concocted with whatever scraps of meat, herbs and spices to be found on the trail.
