Which rice is better Basmati rice or Jasmine rice?

I grew up on Jasmine so Basmati is more special 😍😍

As a Southeast Asian, I far prefer Jasmine rice… except when eating South Asian food.

Rice not sticking together is frustrating to me: When I have to switch from usual Western utensils to East Asian chopsticks, eating almost become impossible. Eating with the hand is most optimal & enjoyable with South Asian food, but not always best (especially when having to simultaneously work a laptop, write on paper, and/or hold books for reading). Food with Basmati rice demands complete focus, time, and attention to eat.

Meanwhile, food with Jasmine rice can be eaten casually with Western utensils or eating with the right-hand, but can also be eaten when busy: Eating with chopsticks is easy, since the stuff actually sticks together.

I grew up on short-grained and sticky Japanese white rice. So both are interesting to me, but especially Basmati is especially interesting since it not only has much longer grains but also a less sticky texture.

I’m Chinese and we never eat basmati rice at home but I’ve tried it at restaurants and friends houses when it was flavoured with condiments and it tastes amazing! I’m so luck I have kind people who care enough to cook for me.

Both. Jasmine for sticky rice and Basmati for nonsticky rice lol. I grew up on brown rice or white and I hate white rice and dislike brown except in certain pilafs...

I didn't know the difference between them till now that I stumbled upon this question  I've only tried the second one and never liked it, maybe I should try Basmati, since people say it's less sticky
