Has my shredded cheese gone bad if it starts smelling like feet?

I throw it away when it starts smelling anyway because I assume that means it's going bad.

When I was 16, I worked part time in a deli that sold 115 different types of cheese.
No, is the answer to that... it just means you're not storing it correctly. Going bad means developing mould. Unless of course it was a blue cheese for example, which has mould growing all through it.

Stored at very cold temperatures, shredded cheese will be ok for about 8 to 10 days once it's opened.

I mean it depends on what cheese it is. I assume it’s some store bought, perhaps a mozzarella. In that case, yes, throw it out.

Better to be safe. Anytime food smells bad, throw it away - unless it's stinky cheese and always smells bad. LOL
