Ehem, allow me to field this question. You can remove any subsequent replies to it. While I do like to dress my cupcake up with some frosting or whipped cream, it is far too tempting to lick it right off.
Think of frosting or icing as the “lingerie” of a cupcake. Pretty to look at, delicious but ultimately, you just want it off. Get down to the warm, moist, bare cupcake and see if it has a surprise inside for you, like a creamy filling.
In order to get to that surprise, you have to get past the frosting/icing. If I had one favourite, it would be strawberry icing. Looks good, that light pink to red colour. Again, as the lingerie of the cupcake, off it comes right away.
I will take whatever creamy goodness lies on the inside. I’m not picky. I could eat cupcake everyday. No lie.

Im not a huge frosting person. I like cream cheese frosting and whipped cream frosting. And icing (I think frosting and icing are two different things) is really good too.
However regular frosting is disgusting

Dark Chocolate Fudge is my favorite. I have, however, a recipe for espresso frosting that is to die for. After those, lemon frosting on chocolate cake.

I'm not a fan of icing, most of the time I scrape it off and give it to my wife. Whatever residue is left is enough for me. Vanilla bean is a good flavor
