In works of fiction (novels, films) they always make such a big deal about it, but honestly, it's absolutely disgusting, and yes, I know that that's my opinion and there are some (usually old men) who actually say they like it.

Scotch is not sweet, thats why young people hate it. But if you mix it with soda and a slice of orange peel, you will find it refreshing.
Also, good scotch is smooth and has complex flavors. Not everyone has the palate to taste that.
But still, it's OK if you don't like it. I see most of us do.
There is not a finer whisky made on earth to sip then a good well aged single malt non-peaty, non-smoky scotch. Such as Longmorn 16 year old, GlenAllachie Single Caskvseries, Hibiki 21 year old, Yamazaki 18byear old, Aberlour A'bunadh, Ballenger 1tbyesr old, Bunnahabhain18 year old, etc...
A good portion of them are very expensive as in as much as $800.00 USD per bottle
Some would agree with you but others would disagree.
You need to get the nice stuff not 5l for a fiver.

It has been my experience that the old men who like scotch, liked it when they were younger, also. So age has nothing to do with it.
Dude I fucking love Scotch, but I also love Irish Whisky and Bourbon.
I've noticed women generally prefer drinks with a sweeter, milder taste and that's okay too.
I agree with you on the scotch and Irish Whisky such as Jameson but unless it's a high end bourbon the cheaper bourbons just tastes like the way rotten corn mash smells that we used to feed the pigs.
@LiamSawyer I like Jim Beam or Bulleit.
@AngryCarl2 I don't mind Woodford Reserve or Makers Mark but overall not a huge bourbon fan.
Like most alcoholic drinks, Scotch is an acquired taste... once you have it, it's very enjoyable.
As an old man then I guess it's OK for me to like it lol
Back when I could drink, I actually liked it. I also drink coffee black.
Scotch like most other things is an acquired taste.
I tried to learn to enjoy scotch. I failed.
Ya got me! I detest the stuff!
I could never drink spirits straight.
Usually on the rocks.
Or neat if a real good smooth scotch.
I never developed a taste for Scotch
