Don't you hate it when someone is cooking food you're going to eat, and the lick the big long spoon then put it back in the food you're going to eat?

You don't want them to lick the spoon, but you'll want him to give you a big kiss after the meal. This all depends on our perspective and definitions. You'll actually appreciate something done in one setting while being repulsed if it is done in another setting. It all comes down to communication. Just let the person know your preferences, and it will be a non-issue. It is actually very common for people to taste the food as they are making it, as they want to make sure it suits your tastes.

Kissing is different than cooking. I don't want other's spit bubbling around in my food when it's cooking.
And is the do need to taste it, they can put a spoon in the food and take a taste. Then the spoon goes in the sink to be cleaned with soap before using it again.
For Pete's sake, have some hygiene with your food.

I understand your concerns, but your partner won't know you have issues unless you share them. I still believe communication is the answer here, not judging others for seeing things differently. What makes total sense to one may not make any sense to another. It's amazing how some behaviors are desired in one setting while becoming major issues in another setting. It's like girls getting all bent out of shape if someone sees them in their underwear, yet they'll freely walk around a beach wearing a bathing suit that covers up less than their underwear. Just share your preferences with your partner. People tend to be very likely to respect your preferences and feelings when you show respect for their preferences and feelings.

My question didn't say it would be my lover cooking for me.
Even at a bar-b-que with lots of people there. You look over and the guy cooking the food takes a big ole lick off the spoon to taste the sauce, then he sticks his spitty germy spoon back on the food.
In fact the last time my then boyfriend cooked for me and I saw him do that I asked him to never do that again.
I wish his Mom had taught him some manner's...

I can understand avoiding this behavior if you are cooking for people outside your family or intimate partner, but I know many families where this behavior is common. Everyone is brought up with different patterns, so educate rather than judge people who are different. Hopefully, your boyfriend has respected your preference. When I hear where people put their tongue when it comes to sex, licking a spoon becomes insignificant.

Let's leave my boyfriend out of this. He died suddenly last month!
He was a spoon licker, but I convinced him it was putting bacteria in the food when you do that, so he stopped.
