Do you like crisp sandwiches?

For those not familiar with a crisp sandwich it's crisps between slices of bread. But for those of you who've had them what type do you like?

A homemade one made from scratch

A readymeal one

I had one before, and that was about the end of it. They're not terrible, but I don't find them particularly compelling. I'd rather have them on the side with a real sandwich. 😂 Would a crisp sandwich also technically be classified as a "butty" in the UK?

Good question. I'm not sure why some sandwiches are called butty. I always thought a butty had to be in a soft bun but I might be wrong.

Well, I'm only Canadian, but I always understood a "butty" to be something that is typically associated with poorer or working class people in the UK that became "popular" out of necessity, partly due to the world wars when people had to rely on very simplistic food due to the war efforts. But it's usually a very basic sandwich with one or two ingredients. I believe a very traditional butty is one made with chips (french fries) and topped with salt, malt vinegar and/or ketchup. But other ones can be made with bacon or an egg, or any number of other simple ingredients. I might be wrong, but that's what I understood a butty to be. 😊 But I'm not sure if a crisp sandwich qualifies as a butty or not? 🤷🏼‍♂️

However, the first time I ever heard of a "butty" was when I hard a song by the 60s British band Colosseum called "Butty's Blues". 😂 Which then caused me to look up what a "butty" is. lol It's been awhile since I did that though.

I'm not complaining about the taste but they are so messy and force me to clean up the kitchen afterwards. I like food not just for the taste, but also for the texture. I use to eat Sushi cause it was soft, not because it tasted good.

I haven't had a crisp sandwich, but I've put ketchup flavored chips on my roast beef sandwiches. Just the cheap dollar tree kind, but they're delicious!

🇨🇦😎 I haven't been to a Dollar Tree for a long time, nor have I had ketchup chips for a very long time either, but I've had an odd hankering for them lately. lol How do they compare to other brands? The last ones I had were most likely Hostess. Dunno if they make those anymore though.

It always bugged me out when people put their potato chips/crisps in their sandwich at lunch when I was in school. Not for me.

I have had a homemade crisps (potato chips for Americans) sandwich. It's a bit too much starch. I'd rather eat the crisps separately.
