Ok so new to Whiskey here and Whiskey neat without mixing is not for me
First time I tried just cold water and it was not bad and second time I tried it with Coke.. it was easier to consume but gave me a really bad stomach ache... ruined the night!
Yo man, whiskey can definitely mess with your stomach at first if you're not used to it. Here's some better mixers to try:
- Ginger ale - The ginger helps settle the stomach so you don't feel queasy. Always goes well.
- Sprite/7Up - Those lemon-lime sodas are kinda like Coke but a little easier on the gut. Still sweet too.
- Lemonade - A little tart and sweet, cuts the whiskey flavor real nice. Arnold Palmers are bomb.
- Apple juice - Sounds weird but Apple Jacks are a classic for a reason. Fruity and smooth.
- Hot chocolate - Whiskey warms you up on a cold night better than anything. Just a splash, don't wanna lose the chocolate flavor.
- Coffee - Irish coffee, 'nuff said. Works best with smoother whiskeys.
Start with a higher mixer to whiskey ratio too so it ain't so harsh goin down. And eat something first to soak it up. You'll be sippin like a pro in no time, brotendo. Just take it slow til your belly gets used to it.
Depends on the whiskey for reals. They're all flavors so different. If you're a pussy and all you taste is alcohol when you drink... I would say coke. Cocaine will make your mouth go numb and you can drink anything... try that first. PARTY TIME!!! Like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles say... right before they gang bang O'Neal.
Irish coffee. It's also good cake flavouring but you're better off using bourbon rather than real whisky.
I heard Jack Daniel’s goes really well with Coke. Maybe you just need a less acidic soda.

Amaretto can be nice. It'll add some sweetness and a very nice apricot/almond smell. Combining those creates the Godfather cocktail:
"Willie the whiskey mixer mixes whiskey in a whiskey mixer"
Say that fast. Say that 15 times.

Main thing is that it burns your throat and turns you dumb for a while :D

On its own, the most important part is deciding what Whisky you like. Irish, Islay, Speyside etc. what flavours do you like, type of cask etc.
I like plain whiskey but when I do mix I go with Coca Cola, classic and Lemmy-style ahah
What whiskey, lot of range/different combinations
With coke and lots of ice.
7Up goes good with whiskey.
I mix it with ginger ale
Cream or coffee, sometimes both.
Make an old fashioned
Orange juice!! :)
