1.7K opinions shared on Food & Beverage topic. I don't drink alcohol very often, maybe 8 to 12 times a year on average.
But I do enjoy a good quality, red wine with dinner or on a picnic. And I even enjoy the occasional cocktail.
Other alcoholic beverages like brandy, port, dessert wine, and some liqueurs can be tasty treats.
Alcoholic beverages can be delicious. They have complex flavor and require an discerning palate.
I don't believe in practicing asceticism. Life is to be enjoyed and appreciated.
There's no way that God banned the consumption of alcohol. Jesus drank wine. He just didn't get drunk.20 Reply

I know, that many persons have no control over their consumption of alcohol, drugs, prescription drugs, et cetera, et cetera. Sorry about that, as that has no effect on me but for the fact that I have to watch out for drunken drives, on the road, drunks on the street, drug addicts in public, and similar situations
I am not one of those uninhibited individuals that has no control over his behavior and consumption of anything that effects my actions, and I have no sympathy or respect for those that have no such control over their use of alcohol or anything else for that matter.
So drinking alcohol is one of the biggest sins of your religion? We all make choices, whether right or wrong and we have to live with them.

1 yNo, because I have health issues that prevent me from doing so. But I wouldn't even if I could because my ex was an abusive drunk and I can't stand being around anyone who drinks. My anxiety gets really bad.

1 yNo, I don't. I never have and have no desire to change that. Just personal preference for me. I don't mind others enjoying it as long as they do so responsibly and aren't acting stupid.

I understand where you're coming from! Religious beliefs definitely play a huge role in personal choices, including whether or not to consume alcohol. I respect that completely. Personally, I enjoy a glass of wine or a craft beer now and then, especially when exploring different cuisines - it pairs so nicely with meals! But, it's all about respecting each other's preferences and beliefs. 🍷🍽 It's amazing how diverse our world is, including our views on food and drink.

1 yYes Melanie, I drink alcohol regularly, but not to the point of not knowing anymore what I'm doing. i don't see why this would be a sin, the more that alcohol, in the form of wine or beer, has saved incredibly many people, in spite of possible alcoholism.
To understand you must know that wine and beer are mainly disinfected water... I mean that centuries ago, people drinking those drinks did not consume infected water, and avoided diseases spread by contaminated water. Think of cholera for instance... That's why drinking alcoholic drinks cannot be considered a sin, at least if not in exagerated quantities.
To be honest that's not why I do drink alcohol. I just like it. The truth is never black or white.

1 yI also never drink and not even interested in trying but for personal reasons rather than religious. Alcohol makes people fat and ugly and is highly addictive. Moreover, when people are drunk they do things they would hesitate to do.
