If the cold drink has been in the fridge for a while, I probably don't need that much ice. I refrigerate all of my cold drinks for at least 12 hours before drinking, and that's typically enough. If it's a fountain drink or some such, I usually want at least 3/4 ice and the drink filled nearly to the brim.
