Do you like candy exploding in your mouth?

Exploding candy goes under a number of trade names, Fizz Wiz, Space Dust, Pop Rocks and a number of others. It's sugar crystals that have been created under pressure in a CO2 chamber and when exposed to moisture explode in your mouth.

I'm pretty convinced modern exploding candy is a bit of a damp squib compared to yesteryear but I occasionally buy it for making desserts.

So thoughts, can you remember it from childhood? Do you still buy it? And have you ever mixed it with toffee and gave it to the dog?

I love exploding candy in my mouth. I used to pour it right on my tongue. I would love for people to listen to the candy making the sounds and noises I used to get real close to people‘s ears and let them hear it. It was not a bad taste the candy they had different flavors. You’re lucky to get about a minute of the popping. If you pour enough on your tongue, then that’s about it. they still have some hanging around nowadays I thought they were all gone, but they’re not. Maybe you want to do a question next on orange juice what they call Tang. They made tons of commercials about the astronauts used to have Tang up in Outer space It was a powder you actually mix with water.

Actually, it’s not bad. I think they still have some on the market. Its nothing like orange juice, but it’s not bad. No, it’s not like Tango pop lol

I tried Pop Rocks once. I felt like it was overrated.
I think my favorite was Lik-M-Aid. Which was essentially a “some assembly required” candy. Ell oh ell! The dippin’ sticks were my favorite part. I never even used up all the sugary powder before i licked them sticks down to nothing.

I remember that crackling candy from my childhood, especially the cherry and cola flavors, like tiny fireworks in the mouth 🎇
You’re right, it used to feel more intense; today’s versions seem milder. I still use it sometimes, sprinkled over chocolate mousse or ice cream for a fun surprise. I’d never give it to a dog though, especially mixed with toffee – not safe for them at all 🐶🚫

Here in the US it was/is branded Pop Rocks. Holy cow, I haven't seen those things for decades. And no, I was never a fan. It was more like a one and done experience for me. Carbonated candy, LOL

I did some Pop Rocks when I was a kid. It was interesting for awhile, until I preferred candy that was pure sugar. My dentist loved me. 😏

Now, in my old age, I prefer chocolate that melts in my mouth, not exploding in it.

Sure I recall the slamming of Fizz Wiz or sucking up sherbet with a pen barrel (I also recall the kid who want to fit in being convinced to snort sherbet, that was a bad time for him)
